A 19-year-old female, Emmanuella Asante, has been placed in police custody pending investigation into the alleged fatal stabbing of her 33-year-old partner, Enoch Abrokwa, at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.
The Tesano Divisional Police Command is conducting an investigation into the incident, which took place on Friday, October 9, 2026, following a dispute between the two individuals at the deceased’s commercial establishment.
According to the Accra Regional Police Command, preliminary investigative findings suggest that the dispute intensified, leading to Asante allegedly inflicting a stab wound to Abrokwa’s chest using a fragment of broken glass.
Abrokwa was transported to a medical facility at Taifa-Burkina for initial treatment before being transferred to the Ridge Hospital, where he received surgical intervention for a severe laceration that had penetrated his intestinal region.
He succumbed to his injuries on October 14 while undergoing medical care, approximately five days following the incident.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, October 21, law enforcement authorities reported that Asante was apprehended on October 10 after the complainant and three additional individuals presented her to the police.
The accused individual reportedly acknowledged responsibility for the stabbing of Abrokwa and was subsequently presented before the judicial court. She remains in police custody and is scheduled to make a subsequent court appearance on November 3, 2026.
The Accra Regional Police Command has called upon the public to address disagreements through peaceful means and to abstain from engaging in violent conduct.
The command has additionally requested public cooperation with law enforcement authorities as the investigation progresses and the matter advances through the legal system in accordance with established procedures.
