The head of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, announced that his organization has hired, trained, and sent out 11,788 young people through its Community Police Assistant program. This program helps support the Ghana Police Service and makes communities safer.
Basintale explained that the program is part of a bigger plan to give young people jobs while teaching them real-world skills in community work and security.
During a Government Accountability Series event on Wednesday, October 21, Basintale talked about how the young people went through professional training and got oriented based on how the Ghana Police Service operates.
According to him, this program lets young people get experience in the security field, learn important skills, and think about whether they want to work in law enforcement or similar jobs in the future.
“The Community Police Assistant module is a project run by the Youth Employment Agency under what we call the Youth in Community Service and Security Module. It was created to give the Ghana Police Service the workers it needs, while also giving young people a chance to see what the job is like and decide if they want to make a career out of it. At the same time, they help keep the public safe.
“Persons who are engaged in this module are professionally trained and oriented by the Ghana Police Service and adequately equipped with the needed logistics, skills, and professional expertise to support the country’s overall security apparatus.
“In this regard, I am happy to report that as of September 2026, the YEA engaged, trained and deployed a total of 11,788 beneficiaries under the Community Police Assistance Module.”
