The AMA has remove illegal buildings that were put up near the Achimota Ayalolo bus stop

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has taken down illegal structures that were built around the Achimota New Overhead Ayalolo bus stop. This was done to give commercial buses, especially Ayalolo buses, enough space to pick up and drop off passengers.

On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Accra Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey led this cleanup effort. The goal was to take back public spaces that traders had been using and make it easier for people to use public transportation.

The clearance project will help commercial buses, particularly Ayalolo buses, load and unload passengers without any problems blocking their way. It should also help reduce the traffic and crowding around the bus stop.

The Mayor is working with the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly to remove more structures and stop trading activities from happening in places where they shouldn’t be.

The operation makes sure that bus stops stay clear of vendors and traders so that commercial buses can work without any issues getting in their way.

This project is part of a bigger plan by the assemblies to control how public spaces are used and make traffic flow better throughout the city.
