Ghanaian media personality and actress Nana Ama McBrown has shown amazement at how many people showed up for hip-hop star Sarkodie’s latest Rapperholic concert in Kumasi, giving props to the huge amount of love and support from fans in the Ashanti Region.
Reacting to how packed the venue was, McBrown famously said, “Asante yɛ Oman,” showing how the city of Kumasi came together to back the award-winning rapper.
Talking about her time at the event, the actress explained that she was already going to be in Kumasi that night and decided to take the opportunity to chill out. She remembered how heavy rain and bad traffic messed up her experience at the previous year’s concert, so McBrown made sure to leave early this time.
Even though she thought Sarkodie would perform around 1:00 a.m. or 2:00 a.m., she got to the venue by 11:00 p.m. Popular blogger Kobby Kyei helped her get settled before the big crowd arrived, getting her a good seat while tons of people with tickets were still waiting outside.
The size of the event became way more obvious after midnight. McBrown said that after she left at 12:30 a.m. to say hi to Sarkodie backstage, she came back and saw that the whole venue—including the VIP area—was completely full.
Impressed by how much pull the artist has, McBrown said, “Sarkodie knows who he is,” pointing out how good he is at bringing in huge crowds.
Beyond just the music and entertainment, the star also gave credit to the event’s strong security and safety setup, pointing out all the police officers, military people, Ghana National Fire Service workers, private security, and ambulances that were ready to go.
While she did mention that trading tickets for wristbands caused some delays for VIP people getting in, McBrown made it clear that this small problem didn’t kill the vibe of the night, saying the concert was unforgettable and really fun.
