Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, has guaranteed the family of 15-year-old Ghanaian boy Javits Frimpong that the government will seek justice after his deadly shooting in the Bronx, New York.

Javits was allegedly shot by unknown attackers around 9:20 am on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as he was on his way to school.

In a statement released on Friday, October 30, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned that Mr. Ablakwa had a direct conversation with the teenager’s father, Thomas Frimpong, to convey the government’s condolences and reassure the family of its assistance.

The Minister committed to ensuring that those responsible for the tragic incident are brought to justice.

We will pursue justice, and we’ll make sure that those who did this do not get away with it.

Mr. Ablakwa also expressed condolences on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, calling the event extremely upsetting.

“We are all heartbroken. We are all in shock. He didn’t deserve this,” the Minister stated.

In the meantime, representatives from Ghana’s Permanent Mission in New York went to visit the grieving family at their residence on Friday morning to show their support and convey the government’s assistance.

The government has denounced the murder and urged the appropriate authorities in the Bronx to carry out a comprehensive investigation and ensure that those accountable are brought to justice.

Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ghana’s Permanent Mission in New York have committed to collaborating with US officials to pursue the case and offer the family necessary legal and consular support.

The statement also highlighted the government’s dedication to the safety and welfare of Ghanaians no matter where they are.

Javits’ passing has left his family, friends, and loved ones grieving in both the United States and Ghana. The government has shared its condolences and prayers with the family, especially his mother, Doris Adu Gyamfi, who resides in Kumasi.
