The Department of Urban Roads (DUR) has declared a temporary closure of a segment of the Kumasi Inner Ring Road on Sunday, September 6, 2026, to facilitate operations by the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo).

The impacted area is located between the Ahodwo Roundabout, close to the Georgia Hotel Junction, and the Ark Intersection.

As per the Department, the closure will be enforced from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to enable GRIDCo to carry out the decommissioning of conductors as part of the enhancement of service lines between the Anwomaso and Abinkyi substations.

The Department emphasized that the road closure is essential to guarantee the safe execution of the work. Motorists approaching the Ahodwo Roundabout and the Ark Intersection are advised to utilize alternative routes and adhere to directional signs positioned at key locations.

Recommended alternative routes include Harper Road, Melcom Road, and Lake Road.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences caused,” the statement expressed.

The Department encouraged road users to plan their travels accordingly and to follow traffic instructions during the operation.
