A first-year student enrolled at Ada Senior High Technical School (ASTECH), identified as Monde Konedu Agyemang, succumbed to fatal complications following a sudden collapse during a sporting competition held in commemoration of the institution’s Girls’ Education Week.
The 15-year-old student experienced a sudden medical emergency on Thursday, October 15, 2026, coinciding with her birthday celebration. Following the incident, she was transported to the Sege Polyclinic, where medical personnel determined that she had expired prior to arrival at the facility.
Dr Stephen Arthur, the Ada West District Director of Education, indicated that the etiology of the student’s death remained indeterminate at the time of assessment, with forensic examination procedures scheduled to elucidate the underlying cause of mortality.
He further noted that Monde had been enrolled at the institution for approximately three weeks preceding the incident and had disclosed no pre-existing medical conditions during her initial registration documentation.
The deceased’s remains have been transferred to the General Hospital for safekeeping, while law enforcement authorities undertake investigative procedures to clarify the circumstances and factors contributing to her untimely death.
